Leadership Banquet

Tonight I attended my 12th NLCF leadership banquet. Per tradition, I posed with my former roommates.

The night was full of hood food and great company. The staff did a skit and Daisy got to make a brief appearance, but I didn't have the camera ready.

We got to see our friends from the campus HG we used to lead. They loved seeing Daisy!

All in all, a great night!

A few quick pics...

I've been meaning to post this pic for a while. This is daisy's future best friend and maid of honor. Her name is Penelope. Aren't her and daisy beautiful? They were born two weeks apart.

After a hard day playing at daycare, daisy needed a nap on daddy.

I couldn't resist turning the light on this morning to get this picture of her still asleep in our bed.

And a couple pics from the past. Even though this was a long night and the hardest as parents to date, don't my two favorite ladies look cozy... And beautiful!

Oh shwarma how I miss you...

Oh how I miss Wendy loving shwarma even more than shwarma itself! When your spouse loves something you love, is there anything better?

I can't wait to travel with my jet-setting girls, soon!

Jim's Autograph

I mentioned back on April 8 that Jim, our friend and pastor, had his first book released. Tonight, he had a book signing at Books-A-Million in Blacksburg. He signed approximately 140 books in 3 hours!

It was really cool to be a part of such a special night! Way to go Jim!

3.2 for 32

This morning Daisy and I "ran" with 6000 other Hokies in the run for remembrance to honor the victims of April 16. (Thanks Kati for the jogging stroller...)

It was a very strange anniversary. I was missing many friends who I spent the first April 16 with, and I also didn't end up doing any of the normal activities I have the past few years. I didn't even attend the candlelight vigil tonight. I think I just needed a break to create some new April 16 thoughts.

Anyway, I did run the race this morning and am glad I did.

Balloons at the start

Daisy took a snooze for about half the race

VT University Relations was taking video, and Daisy and I make an appearance in their YouTube video. We're at the 2:24 mark...

Should We Fire God?

I wanted to take a moment and share some exciting news! One of our dear friends (and one of the pastors of NLCF), Jim Pace, has published his first book, Should We Fire God?: Finding Hope in God When We Don't Understand. It was released yesterday!

We are so happy for and proud of Jim. In the words of another friend, "We are thankful that such a book that tackles the very difficult question of God's goodness in the face of evil, can now get into the hands of many people who are asking, "Where is God when life doesn't make sense?" Let's pray that Should We Fire God? reaches many people and that God uses it mightily."

If you know Jim and want to see how we can help support his efforts, click here to see his ideas on his blog. Most important is that for those who live in the NRV, buy your book at the book signing that's going to be April 27, at 7pm, at Books-A-Million in Blacksburg. Attendance and sales at these events is how bookstores know which books to most promote. If you're not around Blacksburg, you can find the book online or at any major bookstore around the country. So stop by your local Barnes & Noble and pick up a copy and get the word out about this book!

Thanks all! :)

Daisy's first ER visit

The past few days after our return from France have been interesting -- and exhausting!

Daisy's been a little under the weather the past few days. It came to a head on Tuesday night, when she had some symptoms which made us nervous so we called our doctor. He suggested we go ahead and take her to the ER (mostly as a precaution), and we ended up being there until 3:30ish am. Talk about long night and no sleep for mommy and daddy!

Good news is that they ran some tests and it's nothing serious. She just seems to have another lung infection which could be from a cold or virus or something. We feel very blessed.

Here's a pic of her in the hospital.

They tried to run an IV/blood draw line and it didn't work -- 3 times. This was the hardest part for David and I as we had to help hold her down and she cried and cried and looked at us like "Why aren't you saving me?" and we just had to watch. One of the attempts was a vein in her forehead -- and she had a nice band-aid for 24 hours after that one.

Here she is sleeping Wednesday morning on my lap.

Finally, here she is with Daddy in the waiting room of the doctor's office Wednesday for the follow-up appointment.

She's doing SO much better today. She's on antibiotics and I think they are working pretty well. She was happy this morning when I dropped her off at daycare.

We didn't get to tell a ton of people while it was happening because it was really late and we didn't really know anything. Like I didn't even call my mom until after her follow-up appointment yesterday. So if you're just hearing about this now on the blog, its not because we didn't want you to know.

At this point, pray for her continued healing and that God would guide us to get a few more answers in the future as to why she keeps getting these infections in her lungs and if there's anything we need to do as parents to help.

France Descriptions/Info

A picture is worth a thousand words, right? well... i didn't want to sit behind a computer the last few days in france updating the blog so i just uploaded pictures... I know some of the pictures/videos aren't the best. I (or Wendy) will try to fill in the blanks with some information about our adventures the last few days, otherwise, enjoy the pictures!
