Surprise!
Daisy (and David and I) made a surprise trip to Richmond Thursday night for Grandpa Rose's birthday!

Today, we hung out in Richmond with my folks and the nephews. This included the typical El Paso Friday lunch.

We also ran some errands and enjoyed some time together. Tonight we watched "Julie & Julia" on DVD. Daisy slept through the movie... overall it's been a great day!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!
Daisy would like to wish her favorite Grandpa Rose a happy birthday!

(Daisy told me when I picked her up at daycare this evening to pass along the message!)

Daisy Claus
David was on a business trip on Wednesday so je wasn't going to get home until late. I decided Daisy and I would surprise him by decorating the exterior of our house for Christmas.
Since it was cold outside, I bundled Daisy up in her red fuzzy suit... Hence Daisy Claus was born.
I then strapped Daisy to me in a carrier and we went to work putting up bows, candles, and a flood lamp.
Here is the final product of our surprise for Daddy David. He loved it!
Mommy's little "deer" was a great helper! :)

Monday and (last) Friday
David reminded me that I hadn't put up any of our pictures from Friday night in downtown Blacksburg. Oops!
But first, here are Monday's pictures of the day:
Daisy with Daddy in his office when we met him for lunch.

Daisy in her car seat, all bundled up in her new hat and gloves.

Daisy with Beth and Jess, who came to visit last night after the annual NLCF Christmas party.

Okay, back to Friday. Daisy and I walked downtown and met David by the Farmer's Market.

It was the Christmas kickoff night in Blacksburg, as well as the grand opening of the new Market Square Park (home of the Farmer's Market). We wandered down to check out the new park. It's really nice.

Then we walked back to Henderson lawn for the annual town tree lighting. They lit the tree at 5:30pm, and there were a lot of folks packed in to watch.

We had planned on taking Daisy to see Santa at the Lyric, but by the time we go there after the tree lighting, Santa was on break and getting ready for the parade. Oh well. Maybe next year.
We decided to walk back down to the market to hear some tubas play and take in some more sights.

We ended up at the Cellar to eat dinner while the annual Christmas parade began.

When we were done eating, we watched some of the parade as we walked home.

It was a fun night filled with the Christmas spirit. :)

Simple Happenings
Since the last update, we've had a regular week of work and daycare.
I'll do a quick update of the highlights.
Daisy has been sleeping MUCH better on her own.

She'll spend part of each night now in her own "bed" (a small bassinet in our room.)

She also continues to be super cute all the time.

We have begun to prepare for Christmas this week. On Monday, I put up our small bedroom Christmas tree. David gave me this tree the first Christmas we were married, along with one ornament. Each year he's given me the next ornament in the Hallmark series. :)

We also have gotten our Advent wreath our and have been celebrating as a family each night. I'm really enjoying the book we're using.

A few other random pics:
David opening his new food processor (his birthday gift from last week).

David eating his free ice cream at Coldstone (another birthday treat).

The NBC Sunday Night Football truck travelling down Interstate 81 on Monday.

That's about it for the week so far... more to come later in the week!
