Bear Down!
Tonight = Monday Night Football = Bears v. Packers.
Enough said! Daisy was decked out in her Bears gear as we watched them sneak out a win over the Packers to move to 3-0!!!!
Bear Down, Chicago Bears! Make a Play, Clear the Way to Victory!
The game was still going but Daisy took a snoozer...
Don't let the sleeping from Daisy fool you -- David and I were wide awake and tuned in, the game was so exciting!

Sunday
We had church again in Jax, and it was super cold outside. BRRRRRR!

Home Sweet Home
We made it home a little after 8 tonight. Daisy laid on our bed while we unpacked the car. Her smile expresses how we all felt about being home.
Once we unloaded, we put on our Bears gear for Monday Night Football.
It's been a great game so far... go Bears!!!!

After the game went to OT, the Bears pulled off the upset win over the Vikings!!!!

The Middle of the Week
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays have become rather busy around our house. I'm working these three days each week from 8-5, and by the time we get Daisy from daycare, get home, eat dinner, feed and bathe the little one, we are wiped out and we usually head to bed.
Daisy did make some progress Tuesday night and she slept 3.5 hours in the bassinet in our bedroom. YAY!!!
She's not liking the medicine for thrush too much, so that has been a daily battle. (We have to rub in this medicine in her cheeks 4 times a day with a Q-tip.) Overall, though, she is doing better in daycare. The teachers in the infant room say that she smiles a lot, she loves the swing and bouncy-seat, and she cries very little. She is getting a little sleep there, but still not a lot. But she seems content and seems to be adjusting very well.
This morning, I dressed Daisy in her ladybug sleep n' play outfit from her Halloween costume. This is me leaving her at daycare:
Grammy and Grandpa Rose came in town this evening, and we went to dinner at Bull & Bones. Daisy fell asleep while we ate, conveniently between my mom and I.
When we got home, we gave Daisy a bath and got her changed as it was time to turn on the Bears game...

More firsts for Daisy!
Well the past 5 days have been full of more firsts for Daisy... things have been busy so it's been harder to get posts up.
This past weekend, I was speaking at a conference for college students at Eagle Eyrie. I was doing the Saturday morning session, and I didn't find out my topic for sure until the previous weekend. That left me with last week to finalize my talk. That meant I needed some time with my hands free, so several generous friends stopped by at various points to hold and feed Daisy. This worked out well since we were wanting her to get used to taking bottles from others anyway. Jessica, Kati, and Beth all came and helped, and Daisy enjoyed her time with her new friends. :)

In addition to me having the conference to prep for, we had our friends Dom and Hilary coming to visit us from France. They arrived on Thursday in time for the football game. We tailgated with some friends, and we took Daisy with us. She and Hilary both experienced their first ever Hokie game. At least Daisy won't remember the game and therefore the loss, which definitely was a bummer.
Here are some pics from the game (we had AMAZING seats -- 50 yard line, row HH):
On Saturday, Jesse and Hilary gracious enough to come with me to Lynchburg and hold Daisy while I spoke. David and Dom went fishing in the New River to celebrate Dom's 30th Birthday.
As I already posted, Daisy was dressed up as a ladybug for Halloween. For those who don't know, the only "pets" I had as a kid were ladybugs -- I love them! When I saw this costume, I knew it was a winner! :)

On Sunday, we watched football (of course) and both the Bears and Grilled Cheesers had good days. We also ate the fish the boys caught.
We had a wonderful time this weekend with Dom and Hilary and we look forward to visiting them in France sometime soon.
Today, in anticipation of my first day back at work Tuesday, we took Daisy to daycare for a few hours. It was definitely hard to leave her -- I cried in the car -- but we trust she is in good hands. Please be praying for her and us as we make this transition. My job is part-time (more on that tomorrow) so I'm only working 3 days a week right now. Still, it is hard to say goodbye to her even though I feel confident God has led me to the job I'm in. (Anyone else read that sentence and think Boyz II Men?)

Ugh
What a Sunday. Ugh.
As many of you know, we love sports and football here at HouseofChinn. Today proved to be an ugly day for our real team and our fantasy teams.
The day started with me (Wendy) sleeping through church. I woke up at 10am and church starts at 9:30. David was up with Daisy but had decided to let me sleep in because I don't get much sleep still during the week with Daisy (as she still will only sleep in our arms or lying on our chests).
We began watching football and David's fantasy team did okay but not great. Most of his guys played early. I have mostly Bears on my team, and things only got worse when they played at 4:00.
We dressed Daisy in a new Bears outfit this week, a combo of items from Grammy and the Schmidts.
This was as happy as we would look. The Bears were crushed in their game, losing to the Bengals 45-10. It was painful to watch it was so lopsided. That meant my fantasy team, the Grilled Cheesers, got destroyed as well. When all was said and done at the end of today, I lost my game by over 100 points. For those that don't know anything about fantasy points, that is totally embarassing! Worst loss I have ever seen anyone have in my five years playing fantasy football. Ugh.
Oh, and David, who is first place currently in our league, even lost his game. Double Ugh.
To top the night off, my childhood baseball team, the Angels, lost in he ALCS and won't be playing in the World Series. Triple Ugh. A just all-around bad sports week for our family!
In positive real-life news, Daisy is as cute as ever.
Daddy picked out her first outfit this morning.
She took a nap in the Moby Wrap on my shoulder.
That's about it for our Sunday... Is it basketball season yet?
Almost -- Bulls open their season on Thursday! :)

It's a Miracle! (sort of)
That's right -- the miracle blanket worked. Sort of!
We tried it Saturday night and Daisy pitched a fit. I mean she was not happy at all and was screaming at the top of her lungs. Finally we gave up for the night. But Sunday night, Grammy and Grandpa Rose were in town and Grammy helped Mommy wrap up Daisy.
We put her down in the blanket (pictured below -- the room was dark) and she actually slept for 1.5 hours without being held. She woke up to feed around 1:00am and after she was done, she slept for another 1.5 hours in the Moses basket wrapped up in the miracle blanket. When she woke up for her 3:00 am feeding, I had to take her out of it to change her diaper and she was fussing enough not to put her back in it. But I am glad it worked for a few hours... :)
Today (Monday), I put Daisy in one of her new outfits... this one has pandas all over it. I love the Panda feet! :)
My sister loaned me this hanging toy mat and my mom brought it up yesterday. Daisy tried it out for the first time today. She laid under it for about 10 minutes and seemed somewhat interested. Not bad for a 4-week old!
We enjoyed lunch with some friends today (who just got married and are moving to California) and Daisy was worn out by the afternoon!
**P.S. Just a note: The Bears won on Sunday, as did the Grilled Cheesers! That's right. My fantasy football team got its first win of the season! :)

Darlins win...
Good thing the photo "mascot" for DaddyDavid's Darlins is a picture of Daisy... that allows me to be excited that I lost by only ~60 points in our fantasy football matchup today. :)
The Bears had an exciting win at the last minute, although not quite as dramatic as the Hokies yesterday. Still, big win over the Steelers!
Daisy met Suzanne & Joe today, and Callie for the first time. I forgot to mention yesterday that Daisy also met the whole Losse clan (Jim, EJ, Jefferson and Jesse & JD).
Today, we tried a pacifier for the first time. Daisy seemed to like it okay.
David goes back to work tomorrow so my parents came up for two days to help me get used to a new schedule and to give me a hand. We'll see how this week goes. :)

Cheesers vs. Darlins
First: Daisy seems to be doing better. She has eaten well this morning and is currently napping. Her slight fever seems to have disappeared and she seems more comfy. We think she may have just been "backed up" with her inconsistent feedings through the growth spurt...at least that's what we hope.
Second: Today is the big day. It's fantasy football week #2 and David and I play each other. This is for marriage bragging rights! (At least until we play again in 6 weeks.)
Bears play at 4pm...Daisy is of course wearing some Bears gear, again.

1 Week Old
Not only did the Bears lose last night, their miserable offensive performance cost the Grilled Cheesers a possible fantasy football win. It looked like I was a lock to win week 1 until Jay Cutler threw four interceptions. At least David's team (named the Daddy Darlins) looks like it will pull out a win. Oh well, maybe the Cheesers will turn it around next week...onto happier news!
Today Daisy is one week old! What a week it has been. :)
I forgot to mention in yesterday's post who Daisy met for the first time: Lane, Dongbo, Susy, and Aunt Bertie.
This morning, Aunt Bertie held Daisy for a few hours while mommy slept.
Here's a picture of balloons and ribbon on the mailbox from Kati. There were two balloons but the wind must have taken one away. :(
We had another doctor's appointment today and Daisy did better. She weighed in at 8 lbs 1 oz which is just about back to birth weight. She also grew 1/2 inch in length.
Here she is in the car seat with her new soft pink blankie from Aunt Cheri.
