Tonight marked Blacksburg's annual Christmas celebration! It included pictures with Santa, the tree lighting, hot chocolate and cider in the farmer's market, tubas and choirs, and the parade.
We met Daisy's friend Penelope (and her mom) downtown and started with Santa pictures. The girls are basically the same age (a few weeks apart) and neither had ever done Santa before. Let's just say they are not looking forward to doing it again. They both were TERRIFIED of Santa. But we had waited in line for 40 minutes so we took pics anyway.
Daisy and Santa -- she is NOT a fan.
Penelope did a little better on her turn.
We tried one more time with both of them -- no dice! :)
At least we have some great blackmail photos for when they are teenagers!
After Santa, we went and grabbed some free hot beverages and enjoyed the crowds around the farmer's market. We listened to several songs by the tubas. Our friends went home, and we walked to the Cellar to eat dinner, just like we did last year. While in the Cellar (right downtown), the tree was lit and the parade got underway. We might have stuck around outside after eating but it was flurrying snow and it was VERY cold outside! So we headed home and snuggled inside in the warmth.
On the way to our car, we took these photos of us by the big tree:
Fun night on the town, and it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in Blacksburg!
