VT vs MD

On Tuesday night, Daisy had a special Valentine's date with her godmother Jeanette while David and I went to our beginning Chinese language class. After class, we grabbed a quick dinner and headed to Cassell Coliseum to meet Jeanette, her parents and Daisy for the VT vs MD basketball game.

Here's a pic Jeanette took before the game.

It was such an exciting game, and VT managed to pull away in the final few minutes. During that time, it was very loud in Cassell but Daisy had managed to fall asleep in my arms.

Here are a few pics from the evening:

From Game...

A video David took from his seats in the first half of the game... he and my dad have seats 10 rows from the field, courtesy of a friend of my parents.

Let's hope the Hokies can keep it up! :)

Snowy Saturday

Well the snow that was predicted has arrived...

Here's an early view from our deck

A later view

And a final view from tonight

Daisy and I have stayed in the warmth most of the day. David went to Charlotte with my dad to see the Hokies play tonight!

Daisy has had a bath (she enjoys sitting in the "big" tub now)

She also enjoys wearing her orange and her tutu at the same... what can I say?

Just a little while ago she fell asleep in the high chair eating dinner..

That's about it for our Saturday so far... I'd say we got about 3 inches of snow so far. As for the rest of the day, let's hope we have plenty of reasons to cheer tonight!

VT vs. Wake

We got some last minute tickets from the folks we often tailgate with. They are indoor club seats which is nice so we can keep Daisy warm. :)

Let her eat cake

It's been one of those days. If you're a Hokie fan, you know why. Wow, what a loss today to JMU. Ugh. And if you're local, you know, the weather was as nasty as the game. Just rainy and wet and yucky. Double ugh.

Although we didn't have tickets to the game, we went to a tailgate with some folks we've been tailgating with the past few years. Here are some pics of Daisy at the tailgate.

She took a nap on my lap while David and I watched the game over the internet... wow... wish I had slept through the whole thing (I did take a nap in the 3rd quarter).

Once Daisy woke up, we were all in a funk so we decided it was time for Daisy to enjoy more of her birthday cake.

She seemed to like it a lot.
Somebody needed something to enjoy this afternoon!

3.2 for 32

This morning Daisy and I "ran" with 6000 other Hokies in the run for remembrance to honor the victims of April 16. (Thanks Kati for the jogging stroller...)

It was a very strange anniversary. I was missing many friends who I spent the first April 16 with, and I also didn't end up doing any of the normal activities I have the past few years. I didn't even attend the candlelight vigil tonight. I think I just needed a break to create some new April 16 thoughts.

Anyway, I did run the race this morning and am glad I did.

Daisy took a snooze for about half the race

VT University Relations was taking video, and Daisy and I make an appearance in their YouTube video. We're at the 2:24 mark...

Two Holidays!!!

Today was an exciting day -- two holidays!

That's right -- not only is it Valentine's Day, but it also is Chinese New Year!

First, two pics from yesterday. Daisy has now learned how to ride on David's shoulders.
Holding on wears her out...

Now onto the fun of today... after church, we went to a women's basketball game with Jeanette. David's coworker Pat got us some great tickets. Dongbo, Callie, Laura, and Mama & Papa Staats also came to the game and visited us in our seats. Here's a picture of us at the game from the Hokie sports website. We're right in the background between the two players!

After the game, David gave me my Valentine's gift -- CREAM SODA!
He got a new brand to try, and it was really good. We got a whole case of sodas, including root beer and ginger ale. Tasty!

Finally, we went to dinner with Dongbo, Callie and Annie to Charlie's Chinese in Christiansburg to celebrate Chinese New Year. Welcome Year of the Tiger. Goodbye Year of the Ox (Daisy's birth year). This was Daisy's first Chinese New Year! Fortunately, she got to celebrate it with some real Chinese food ordered in Chinese (by Dongbo, who can speak it well.)

Here are the actual Chinese people in our group: Dongbo (100%), David (50%) and Daisy (25%)
Trying to give Daisy some rice...
Yum, look at all our food!

What a great day!

Friday and Saturday

I worked yesterday (Friday) while David stayed home with Daisy, who has thrush and therefore isn't at daycare this week. David surprised me by bringing Daisy up to New River. What a great treat!

Here she is being held by Mark, my old boss.

After work, we were invited to the Staats home for a Wii game night. Here David watches Evan play.

Today, we visited the field house at VT for a track meet. David's sis was in town with the UVA team where she serves as the trainer. We took her some lunch and she got to snuggle with Daisy for a bit.

Here are David, Daisy and Lisa posing for a pic.

We had some folks over to watch the VT-FSU bball game (unfortunately the Hokies couldn't pull this one out). Our friend Jim had fun flying Daisy around in the air.

Finally, here's the video of the day. Wade and Daisy both making noises!5490355246033918
