Unpacking

Today has consisted mostly of unpacking from our full week out of town.

Here's a pic of Daisy modeling two gifts from Gramma Chinn:

After sorting through our stacks of gifts, here's what our Christmas haul looked like.

I feel very fortunate and blessed!

Home Sweet Home

We made it home a little after 8 tonight. Daisy laid on our bed while we unpacked the car. Her smile expresses how we all felt about being home.

Once we unloaded, we put on our Bears gear for Monday Night Football.

It's been a great game so far... go Bears!!!!

------------
12:15am update:

After the game went to OT, the Bears pulled off the upset win over the Vikings!!!!

What a game!!!

In Virginia

We're in Virginia and finally on I-81 headed south. Only 190 miles to go.

Daisy has fallen back asleep, and this was too cute not to post.

Yes, the bottle is empty. She fell asleep drinking it. :)

Late Lunch / Early Dinner

We stopped near Frederick, MD to eat lunch and do a diaper change. We got off of an exit that seemed to have a large retail area and as we were about to turn into Chick-fil-a, we spotted Uno's. Our minds were made -- time for deep dish pizza.

Daisy enjoyed the break and we enjoyed our pizzas -- Chicago classic for David and spinoccoli for me.

It took a little longer than we hoped because the waitress ordered me the wrong thing and we had to wait 10 more minutes for my pizza to cook, but it was worth the wait.

Now we're cutting down 340 towards Rt. 7 which will tie us into I-81.

On The Road Again

We've left Philly and are on 95 south.

Us as we left the Embassy Suites where we stayed:

Daisy is asleep (for now!):

More Eagles & Post-game

Our seats were in the club level so we had access to a huge indoor heated concourse. That's why we got these tickets since we have Daisy and don't want her to get too cold.

Because we were in the club section we had a special entrance where we walked right in. I watched the regular entrance from the club lounge -- look at all the people.

Daisy did really well minus a diaper blowout in the first quarter. That meant I had to go to the backup outfit underneath the 2T jersey she borrowed from cousin Asher. Here's what she looked like after that:

As for the game itself, it was a lot of fun. It was another close anniversary game for us. The Eagles jumped out to an early lead but the Broncos came back and tied it in the fourth. Fortunately for the home crowd, the Eagles kicked a game-winning field goal with 4 seconds to go. That made for a happy subway ride home!

Speaking of the subway, that marked Daisy's first ride on a train.

Once we got off the train, we walked around a few parks near city hall before heading back to the hotel.

Since I didn't post these earlier, before the game we went to a little neighborhood restaurant called Cavanaugh's. We split a hot dog platter that had a huge side if tots. Yum.

We took other pics with our real camera and will post those along with some real Christmas pics assoon as I download them!

Eagles game

Here we are at Lincoln Financial Field for Eagles vs. Broncos:

From Grandmother's House We Go

We left Grammy and Grandpa's house at 1:30 to head to Philadelphia. This weekend is our annual NFL weekend trip. Tomorrow we'll see the Eagles play the Broncos. (That means next year we'll go to a game in Denver.)

We just passed through D.C. and literally saw most of the monuments (from 395) and David's old job site from his college internship. I forgot to take pictures, however.

Most of our view so far has been of brake lights.

Fortunately, after the first hour, Daisy has been sleeping most of the way.

More updates later...

Christmas - quick pic

I'm typing this from the car traveling between Mema and Granny's house.

A few quick pics of today:

Christmas Eve

It's 2:39 and I'm just coming to bed, and actually it's time feed Daisy.

I've got some pics but I'm too tired to explain them for now. So just enjoy!

Daisy's First Fever :(

Daisy got a slight fever last night -- her first ever. We used infant Tylenol throughout the night, and she's continued to have it today.

Doesn't she look so sad?

We called the doctor and are keeping an eye on her. She's obviously not feeling well but she doesn't have a lot of other symptoms. We don't know where she would have picked up anything since she was with us most of the weekend snowed in, and then we came to Richmond. Regardless, hopefully she will get better soon.

Daisy meets the Fearnow/Evans clans

Last night, Daisy had a chance to meet some family friends that have known me since I was born. And now they know Daisy since she's been born.

Growing up, there were three families that hung out a bunch -- the Fearnows, the Evans, and my family, the Roses. We grew up in church together, and our parents all are good friends. They've done New Year's Eve together and the Super Bowl together for the past 30 years.

Each family had two kids, and although staggering in ages, I was the youngest of the six. Everyone else has had kids for a while, and we try to get together around Christmas each year to catch up with everyone. Last night, we finally added to the mix of the 3rd generation. Daisy was introduced to the clan.

It was a great time to introduce her, and everyone enjoyed meeting and holding her.

We even all gathered around the tv and watched an old home video of the six kids playing kickball back in 1988. That video had us all laughing out loud -- literally -- as we reminisced about our childhood and were embarrassed by our hair and clothes! :)

From 64

People like to hit their brakes today on the interstate. We finally are on I-64. Its taken us awhile.

Daisy is back asleep...

I'm with her in the backseat. David is doing an excellent job driving.

A poor picture going over Afton mountain...

On the Road!

We're currently traveling down I-81 on our way to Mechanicsville.

Daisy is so tired, she hasn't slept at all this morning. She finally just fell asleep in the car.

Let's hope she naps all the way there!

Snowy Sunday

A number of churches cancelled services today, but NLCF decided to have our downtown service.

David met some other guys at 7am at our Jackson Street building to help shovel snow. The got the entrance and some of the parking lot cleared. We held our service there instead of the lyric. There was a nice crowd and it was a meaningful service. I especially enjoyed the music.

Daisy slept through most of the service on David.

This evening, we had our last family Advent time at home. David built a fire and Daisy fell asleep in his lap again.

We never got around to decorating our tree this year. Staring at it last night, I felt like it was symbolic of our advent focus. The book we've been reading has been focusing on the meaning of a number of Christmas traditions. Our plain tree has served as a reminder this year of the simple beauty of Jesus' birth.

His entrance into this world was not overly celebrated. It was humble and simple. But it was also more glorious and beautiful than anything else.

As we've enjoyed the season this year with our new baby, we've been reminded of the simple joys of Christmas.
