Honoring a Friend

Today, we went to the funeral for Cheryl.

It was a wonderful service and was very meaningful. I laughed and cried and felt every emotion in between. Hunter, Blaire's hubby, shared a eulogy and it captured the essence of Cheryl so well. Cheryl actually planned the service herself about six weeks ago, so that when the day came, it would speak to her family and friends as much as it spoke about her.

After the service, there was a lunch downstairs in the fellowship hall. It was nice to spend some more time visiting with other friends and the Dennier family.

Daisy got tired during lunch, so she took a nap on the floor (on daddy's suit coat).

She rolled over part-way through but stayed asleep.

Cheri and Blaire talking while the kids ran around.

Blaire and Everett (Daisy's new friend).

Daisy and Everett - I was trying to get a picture of them together but Daisy wasn't cooperating.

Then she began to fuss

Look at that face! Unhappy!

After the funeral, we got packed up and hit the road in the rain back to Blacksburg. We stopped for a quick dinner in Waynesboro to let Daisy get out of the car seat some. We found a little pizza joint named Giovanni's that was quite tasty.

Daisy snacked on her little puff snacks.

We're home at last. It's been a long week and my emotions are a little out of whack. I'm not sure I'm ready for work tomorrow, but I guess it's time to get back in the groove.

Time now for sleep, in my own bed. Now if only Daisy would start sleeping through the night...

Grammy's Birthday Surprise!

This past weekend, Grammy Rose turned 60! That's right -- the big 6-0 -- and Daisy wanted to celebrate with her! :)

We woke up early Saturday morning and left the house a bit before 6:00am. David drove the whole way while I sat in the back with Daisy.

The sun started to rise eventually, but Daisy still slept!

When she finally did wake up, she gave me quite a confused/tired look...

Grandpa decided we would surprise Grammy at breakfast at Cracker Barrel...we got there first and waited at the table...

When Grammy saw us, she was excited to see us and hold Daisy!

Daisy had fun on Daddy's shoulders...

In the afternoon, I went to a movie with Rachel. Before the movie, Daisy got a "squeeze" from her Aunt Coyote!

That night, we made a steak dinner for Grammy.

After dinner, we had a "surprise" party where friends showed up at the house to surprise Mom. It was a fun little time. (I have some pics of that on my camera that I'll try to upload soon.)

The boys wrestled while the adults hung out in the other room.

Cheri, David and I watched the VT-MD game on the computer (since Richmond didn't broadcast the game on TV). We were so sad that we lost in double-OT. :( (This picture was taken after we tied the game to send it to OT.)

Aunt Cheri and Daisy.

Headed home on Sunday... Daisy was worn out from a fun weekend!

Daisy: In Living Color

As we all know, I've gotten behind the past few weeks on blog posts...

To make it easier to catch up, I've just compiled a whole post of pics of Daisy. After all, that's what people come here to see, right? :)

Daisy looking cute...

Getting a bath with Mommy while Daddy was at Wake Forest bball game...

Snoozing in the car...

"I love my Daisy bib, Gramma Chinn!"

Sleeping again... this time in the car on a 6-hour roadtrip to Va Beach

Daisy attending her first women's conference...

Being around a bunch of girls meant nail polish. Here are Mommy & Daisy's matching toenails...

Uncle Mike and Daddy David hung out while the girls were at the retreat...

More time in the car driving back to Blacksburg...

But we did get to stop and visit with Aunt Lisa on the way home!

That made me laugh!

"Mommy likes this outfit -- it matches my eyes!"

The day after a great win...

Last night was a blast! Hokies won an amazing game in overtime! Wow! After the game, Lisa brought a pizza to our hotel and we chowed down.

Below are a few final pictures from the game last night:

Dongbo and Wade went to the game, too -- it was Dongbo's birthday!

Friday morning we slept in at the hotel. Here's Daisy snoozing in the room.

Once she woke up, I dressed her in her pink Nike outfit that our friend Jen gave her. Isn't she sporty and cute?

For lunch, we met our friends Ben and Emili and their two children. They are friends of ours from college and moved out to Los Angeles a year after graduation. This past year, they moved back to Virginia and now live in Charlottesville.

A daddy & daughter pose: David and Ben with their daughters.

After we left Bodo's Bagels, we headed to Lisa's house to let Daisy hang out with her Aunt a little longer. We then went to Anna's place and hung out for a bit, ending our evening eating dinner with Anna at LittleJohn's.

We made it back in time tonight to beat the snow... I'm guessing tomorrow we wake up to a white ground!

In Virginia

We're in Virginia and finally on I-81 headed south. Only 190 miles to go.

Daisy has fallen back asleep, and this was too cute not to post.

Yes, the bottle is empty. She fell asleep drinking it. :)

Late Lunch / Early Dinner

We stopped near Frederick, MD to eat lunch and do a diaper change. We got off of an exit that seemed to have a large retail area and as we were about to turn into Chick-fil-a, we spotted Uno's. Our minds were made -- time for deep dish pizza.

Daisy enjoyed the break and we enjoyed our pizzas -- Chicago classic for David and spinoccoli for me.

It took a little longer than we hoped because the waitress ordered me the wrong thing and we had to wait 10 more minutes for my pizza to cook, but it was worth the wait.

Now we're cutting down 340 towards Rt. 7 which will tie us into I-81.
