Cold day!
Cheri, the nephews, and her friend James came to B'burg for the Tech-UVA game this weekend. We tailgated, then Cheri, James, David and Wade went to the game while I took Daisy, Jonas and Asher home to watch it on TV.
It was SO cold outside, we stopped on our walk home to warm up in the lobby of the VT library.
Once home, Daisy snacked, the boys played, and I gleefully watched the Hokies roll over the
Cavs!

Holiday Cards at Shutterfly (Giveaway!)
I am really excited about our Christmas cards this year. I saw a link on a friend's blog about a really cool offer from Shutterfly, in which if you blog about their products, you can get 50 free cards!
I was actually just looking in the Shutterfly catalog the other day that was mailed to us, and I LOVED a number of the holiday designs. Personally, I am kind of torn between the folded cards and the flat cards.
You can check out what they have to offer yourself at these links:
- Christmas cards
- Greeting cards
- Photo albums
- Photo cards
- Calendars
Calendars and photo books make GREAT gifts for Christmas, too, for folks that seem to "have everything" when it comes to material items. Nothing can substitute for pictures of loved ones, especially when grandchildren are involved!
So there you go! Don't take my word for it, though. Take a look for yourself and if you're into blogging and free things, maybe take advantage of the offer yourself!

Saturday
This morning, Hannah, Nicki, Mathis and I ran the Star City Half Marathon this morning.
Here are the girls before the start:
Nicki took some other photos of the race that I'll link to once they are posted.
Daisy, David, Chris and Stacie came to cheer us on. Stacie also brought us some packed-full goodie bags!!!
I had a bit of a rough race, my hips were hurting throughout. But I finished the race (my only goal) and my time wasn't bad considering I hadn't run longer than 5 miles since my first half on September 5. My time today was 2h57m, which was only 9 minutes slower than my Sept time.
Now we are home watching the VT-Miami game. Let's go Hokies!

HCA VA 8k
Last year's Christmas gift to my family was race registrations to do the HCA Va 8k race together. It was today in Richmond, and mom and dad walked it while Cheri (and her friend James), David and I all ran it.
Here are David and I at the start line:
This is David finishing... he's in the maroon top and gray sweats on the left side...
David did so great! He told me it would take him an hour and a half, but he finished in 1:01, which was only 4 minutes after me. If I had known he was so close, I would have stopped to run with him! I am so proud!
Here's the whole family afterwards:
We celebrated with breakfast at Cracker Barrel...Daisy liked playing with Grandpa's medal.
All in all it was a great day. Cheri and I were pleased with our times (she rocked out with 49:21, while I did 57:21) and Mom and Dad did great walking the whole 5 miles. Now they know they can do it, and I hope this jumpstarts them to more years of exercise. The next plan is to possibly do the Susan G. Komen 5k Race for the Cure together in Richmond in May.
