Father's Day Weekend
What a fantastic weekend of fun! But I am very tired... When I last wrote, we were in the car traveling to Mechanicsville. I had a suicide prevention training in Hampton Roads, and we were spending the nights in Mechanicsville so my mom could watch Daisy and David and my dad could look at cars found on craigslist. (We were looking for a used car with a bigger backseat to better fit our car seat.)
The training in Hampton was great and I learned a lot. I also met some wonderful colleagues at other community colleges who were able to give me some great tips for my job.
Friday, after the conference, I headed to DC to meet David, Daisy and my parents. They headed up earlier in the day to check into our hotel in the Ballston area (Arlington). Our hope is that I would make it up there in time for the Nationals-White Sox baseball game. Unfortunately, I got stuck in traffic in Newport News and didn't get to DC until 8:30 at night. We ended up just eating dinner at PF Chang's and going to sleep.
Saturday, I slept in and it was glorious! David took Daisy over to Grammy and Grandpa's hotel room, and he and dad went and got Panera bagels while mom watched Daisy. And I slept. Wonderful.
We then got cleaned up and went towards DC. We took the metro in and ate lunch at the food court in the Ronald Regan Federal Building. We then walked out and took a few pictures of Daisy and us in front of the Washington Monument. We then took the metro over towards the Nationals game.
We enjoyed the White Sox-Nats game this time, which was Daisy's first pro baseball game. We moved from our seats into the shade, hoping no one would show up. Some people approached us because we were in there seats and guess what? We knew them! Yup. It was Hannah and Chris Steele and two of their friends. Crazy! Of all the seats we could have sat in at Nats Stadium, we chose seats of people we knew, who were nice enough to not make us leave! They just sat around us. :)
The Sox won and we headed to Union Station to enjoy Pizzeria Uno's. I needed a serious Spinoccoli fix. Yummy.
Sunday morning, we got up and went to Dim Sum to celebrate Father's Day. Lisa picked us up at our hotel and we headed to Falls Church, where we met back up with my parents and some friends we know from VT (Gary, his brother Ross, and Joel). It was a very tasty meal and fun to share the Dim Sum experience with some people trying it for the first time.
Lisa, David, Daisy and I headed to the game, where we met back up with Gary and Joel. We bought $5 tickets and sat in the shade and enjoyed another White Sox win! Yay!
Lisa dropped us back off at our car at the Franconia-Springfield Metro stop (where I parked Friday) and we started the journey home. We stopped in Charlottesville for a quick dinner with Lisa and to give Daisy a break from the carseat, and we got back to Blacksburg finally around 11:00 last night. Wow.
Wonderful weekend though. I gave David a framed portrait of Daisy for Father's Day, along with a desk calendar with pics of her for the next year. He was very surprised and appreciative! I had done a secret photo shoot with my uncle Keith, a photographer, when I stayed in Richmond without David the few days after mother's day. For once, I was able to keep a surprise for David!!! :)

One dinner at the train station
After the second win over the nationals in as many days we went to union station for dinner so we could hit up one of our first date locations, pizzeria UNO. Yum yum. The table next to us we overheard was also from Blacksburg!
She loves her spinnacoli!
They are the cutest!

Dinner with mommy!
Mommy finally made it Arlington to join us. We met her at P.F. Changs for dinner. Daddy watched the white sox beat strasburg and the nationals on tv while we waited for our table. The food was very good, especially the lettuce wrap appetizers!
Daisy was wiped out from nonstop cheering (babbling) in the bar with daddy while we watched the baseball game and waited for mommy to arrive and our table.
Mommy was wiped out too after a long day at her conference in hampton and a stinky drive ip to Arlington with a lot of traffic delays.

Safely
We made it safely despite a HUGE storm on I-64.
Daisy is happily sound asleep at Grammy and Grandpa's. I hope to be shortly!

Road trip!
I have a training for work in Hampton tomorrow and Friday. We're headed to Mechanicsville tonight to stay with my folks.
Daisy is staying occupied right now with her carseat:
She's getting tired, though, so I hope she falls asleep soon!

The birds and the Daisy
I woke up this morning to this face:
She kept clawing my face:
So I knew it was time to get up...
Daisy and I enjoyed lunch today with Pambo, a teacher friend of mine from my Giles days. Pam is her real name, but she's become a triathlete in the past 18 months (thanks to a workout program called Rambo) and Pambo is a better fit!
We enjoyed a scrumptious meal outside at Our Daily Bread.
This afternoon, I was working from home on my laptop in the basement when a bird swooped at my head. Yes. That is not a misprint.
Somehow a bird got in. I contained it in the laundry room and called David. He laughed. Then he said he'd be home shortly.
We found the bird finally sitting in the ceiling. Our friends Devin and Koren came over and helped David extract the bird safely.
I couldn't get a picture of the extraction because my job was to keep Daisy safe upstairs!
Needless to say, I lost over an hour of productivity due to the bird, and we still have no idea how it got in.
To close the summary of today, here's a picture of Daisy enjoying Yobaby yogurt fir the first time:
Sweet dreams!

Blueberry picking!
The weather was beautiful today after daddy got home from work so we went into the backyard and picked some blueberries!
I mostly picked grass. My favorite outdoor sport.

Sleeping Beauty
A Saturday morning nap on mommy:
And Thursday night, a tired Daisy finally fell asleep in the car after 20 minutes of fussing:
We had been at Thr River Company celebrating with Kristal for a bachelorette dinner. (She gets married later today!)
Here is Daisy trying one of Sarah's sweet potato fries:

Tastes like chicken?
Happy birthday to Wade! Dongbo and I took Wade out for dinner or his birthday to a new buffet that was really pretty good. They even had frog legs which Wade sampled! Happy birthday doctor mattox!
Daisy's Firsts!!!
Daisy began crawling yesterday at daycare. Daddy snapped some video when picking her up -- it's posted below.
Also, we noticed last night after Daisy's first playdate with a friend from daycare that she has gotten her first tooth! You can't see it in this picture, but it's there, I promise.
It's official... a day of firsts for Daisy. :)

A little blog updating
I've been inspired to try and update some blog features... I've created a custom signature for myself and will try to create one for David later, but I'm not sure how that will work with two of us posting to the same blog.
Next up are some improvements to the side bars. We'll see how it goes... I'm only doing this while I'm waiting for my next appointment to show at work, so I only have a few moments!

9 Months!!!
Happy 9 month birthday to me!
Mommy & Daddy celebrated with BOGO milkshakes from Sonic!
They didn't share with me ... and I was kinda unhappy about it. I tried forcing a smile...

Yes, a new post!
David and I both know that we are WAY behind on posting. Things have just gotten busy and we got behind and you know sometimes, you want to catch up all at once and you don't have time, so you don't do anything.
Well, this is a first baby step on getting caught up. Basically, it's a massive update attempt.
Really, there haven't been many posts in May. That when things fell apart!
For Mother's Day weekend, we went to Richmond and stayed with our friends Steve and Jorie. David did a post about that weekend.
The next week, I stayed in Richmond for two days while David went to Minnesota. At that point, he posted a few things, but I didn't have a chance. Then we were absent for good.
I'm working on the following posts (and I'll include links because I'm going to back date the posts):
- Week of May 10-15 -- Wendy with family and graduation weekend
- Week of May 10-15 -- David's trip & returning home
- Week of May 16-21 -- houseofchinn kitchen reorganizing/redecorating
- Weekend of May 22 & 23 -- Daisy's baby dedication at church
- Week of May 24-28 -- Daisy's first ear infection, etc.
- Weekend of May 28-31 -- Memorial Day Weekend with family
- Week of June 1-4 -- this week
And that should catch us up to now!
Keep checking back to this post, and as I said, I'll put links up for each post so you know when they've been written!
Happy Friday everyone!

Week of June 1-4
This week has been good. Since Monday was a holiday, it was a short work week. Even shorter for me because Tuesday I only worked about 2 hours.
First, it felt like Monday because of the holiday. Second, I took Daisy to the doctor in the morning for her diaper rash and went to the doctor myself in the afternoon for a sore throat I had for over a week. I only went into work in the late afternoon for an appointment I had previously set up with a client that I didn't want to cancel.
Here is Daisy in the doctor's office on Tuesday:
David had a softball game Tuesday night, and Wednesday was a normal day of work. Wednesday night we met a new friend (Alejandra) who just moved here and we took her to dinner at NLCF's fundraiser at Souvlaki's for the Ukraine orphanage. Daisy slept most of the time in the stroller and I didn't take any pics there. :(
Here's Daisy eating dinner once we got home. David cooked a chicken breast and we put it in the food processor with steamed red, yellow & orange peppers. This was her first time trying chicken & peppers!
Thursday, after work, we went to Chick-Fil-A, met Jeanette, and redeemed our coupons to try the new Spicy Chicken Sandwich.
I thought it was really spicy and it was a little too hot for me! I think I'll stick to the regular one. David liked it, though, and I can see him ordering it again in the future!
After Chick-Fil-A, we went to homegroup. It's always a great time with friends and it challenges me and encourages me in my faith. We are blessed to be a part of such a great group!
To close, here's my favorite picture from this week -- Daddy and Daisy sleeping.
Precious!
