Daisy is 1!

It was weird to wake up on September 7th and see a sleeping Daisy and to think that it has been a whole year since she joined us outside of the womb.

If you've known us for a while, you know that this time last year, I was overdue and wondering if our little mini-chinny would ever appear. We didn't know it was a girl, and we didn't know what to expect, but we have been SO BLESSED since my water broke a year ago this morning!

All day long, I have thought about where I was this time last year... checking into the hospital, calling family and friends, taking a walk around the hospital, feeling the labor pains, and finally meeting our little bundle of joy!

My parents, Katie, Jessamyn and Jackie were all in the waiting room (and Evan was there for a bit, too) and they each have their own stories from the day. It is an amazing experience to welcome such a small baby into the world.

Oh how Daisy has changed since last year...

This afternoon, we went to Wells Fargo and filled out the paperwork to refinance our home. We have 22.5 years left on our current mortgage, but we could switch to a 15-year loan and lock in 3.85%. That seemed like a no-brainer. It will cost us ~$115 more a month but shave off 7.5 years. And don't worry, we've thought about the tax reasons for keeping a home, but we'd rather donate more to charities than keep a mortgage just for a tax break. :)

After the refinancing paperwork, it was time to go celebrate Daisy's first birthday as a family. We ended up at El Gran Rodeo in Christiansburg where we enjoyed a delicious meal.

We had a churro's for dessert and Daisy loved the whipped cream. She had so much fun feeding herself and making a mess. Daddy David took some video that will hopefully be uploaded here soon!

So here were are... one year later. It has been a wonderful year and more than we could have ever imagined. Daisy Lucile is one years old and a healthy, happy baby. God has been very good to us.
