GYRO Race!

This morning we had our first ever GYRO race. For those who don't know what GYRO is, it's the running "club" that I'm a part of. Our friend Sarah started it up 5 years ago in Delaware where she was living, and it's caught on in various other places. She got it going again here in the NRV and this weekend we hosted our first race. It was free to do and just for fun, but it had a race feel. You can read more about it here and see some pics of me in action and the awesome potluck meal we shared afterwards.

This afternoon David and I are headed to a mini-marriage conference at church, and Daisy will be hanging out with the other kids during childcare. Should be a great time to learn and grow.

Naked baby!

This afternoon, David took some time off of work and he and Lisa took Daisy to Wal-Mart and they bought a baby pool. I was still at work, but they had fun splashing around on our deck.

When I got home, we grilled out and ate dinner on the deck. Daisy was naked from taking off her bathing suit.



After dinner, David put Daisy in the pool again one more time so I could see her play in the water. In the first picture, she is looking at Radley. She is very intrigued by the dog, but no, we are not getting one. That is the first thing everyone asks when they see the video because she laughs at the dog and likes to pet her. But still, no dog for us.







 I think I will save the pics for her rehearsal dinner someday. :)

Tuesday

Today, Aunt Lisa came into town with her dog Radley. We went out to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner with our friends Wade and Dongbo. We played a little trivia game, with David and I vs. Wade, Lisa and Dongbo. All three of them are working on PhD's, so it was DAZNUS vs. Docs. Somehow, we won! Not somehow... David is really good at trivia. But we felt pretty good beating the three doc students. :)

After dinner, we came back to our house and sat on the deck and ate dessert. Here is Dongbo holding Daisy.





It was a great night with family and friends. :)

Not-so-Dancing Daisy

If David's videos of Daisy in the crib the other day were "Dancing Daisy," today was the opposite.

I set up my laptop so I could video g-chat with Grammy, but it turned out she was at book club. Therefore, I used my laptop to record a few short videos of Daisy. She had been dancing up a storm in her exersaucer. However, as soon as I cut the camera on, she just stared at it.

Finally, she started swaying, but nothing like she had been doing. It's like she knew I was expecting something and she wasn't about to give in!

This was my final attempt -- again, no luck. Oh well... at least she's cute to look at. :)

Dancing Daisy

Although we haven't captured many videos, daisy has some great rhythym and moves that neither mommy or dad can explain. At day care last week she stood herself up and did a little twisting while tapping her foot. The ladies were cracking up watching her moves...

In her crib today she was bobbing back and forth some as well amd first some bouncing!

Today mommy ran a 5k in christiansburg with our friends Chris and Hannah while Daisy and I cheered them on. Here is mommy pre-race!



And the prize for her finish? One happy little daisy!!!!

Chris finished in second for his age group. We won't let his secret pre-race night ritual...

...unfortunately we were only 1 for 4 in calling the toss and so we only got one pizza free. Blame Jed. :)

Not much else to report from today...the weekend arrive in less than 24 hours.

Biking Home!

I had a meeting this afternoon in Blacksburg with Jim. We met at Our Daily Bread (where I ate a delicious grasshopper brownie) and I rode my bike. From there, I went to daycare to pick up Daisy. Then we biked home through town!

I, of course, couldn't take any action photos, but I did take the two when we got home.





I think she really enjoyed the ride.

Tuesday

Daisy playing with my pump parts this morning. I was trying to pump a little more milk before taking her to daycare so she had full bottles, and she kept wanting to grab the parts. It made it tough...she didn't seem to understand what I was saying that the more she played with the parts, the more likely it was that she'd be thirsty later. :)

As for Monday's post, David took some pics when we were out to dinner with friends and I thought he was going to post them. Oops. A little miscommunication. We'll get that post/pics up soon!
